every six months; flush and bleed clutch fluid (upgrading to stainless line soon) flush and bleed PS fluid check driveshaft, centersupport, and rear diff bolts. check tranny mount (easy to get to). week in advance; change oil. change oil filter. change fuel filter. clean air intake.day before; check pressure in track tires, and condition. change pads to track pads (hawks, etc) flush, then bleed brakes. check cooling ducts (repair as necessary) check battery tie downs and fluid levels (if applicable) clean windshield, pack windshield cleaner and towels. adjust shocks. remove front strut tower bar. ensure i have my tools, (torque wrench and camber tools specifically) and clean out entire interior of everything not bolted down. day of; mount tires change camber Make a list in Excel, and allways keep updating it. Eventually, you will get to the point that your mornings consist of only Tech inspection.
- Ensure proper lug nut torque on all your wheels. - Ensure your helmet is a snell A2000 or M2000 rated. - Remove your entire interior loose parts, and clean out your glove box, center console. You want nothing loose in your car, even if it's behind a door or under the seat. - Check tire pressures and tread depth. - Check your battery fluids, and ensure it is TIGHT. - Bleed brakes with proper Dot4 fluid. - Install new brake pads and bed them in before the event. - Check for vacuum leaks, and inspect all your hoses and clamps. - It's not a terrible idea to consider an oil change, but certainly not mandatory
for first timers: Before Track Day: 1. Hydrate yourself the day before Track Day & avoid alcohol the night before 2. Get a good night's sleep ....got to be alert & quick to respond out there At The Track before/after every run: 1. Hydrate 2. re-torque Lug Nuts 3. check fluids & radiator(last time u replaced thermostat?) 4. last lap cool down staying off brakes 4. stay-off brakes after Run & park on flat ground without e-brake(in case it sticks on you & ruins your day) SS
